- Now why is The Infrared Radiation Orchestra pimping Boomslang in our newsletter? Let me tell yiz about Boomslang. On drums, The Jake, filled in on drums for us when IRO played The Lost Horizon. On bass, guitar and vocals, Antonia & Craig. Both have sat in with IRO numerous times. Both have co-written songs that have appeared on IRO CDs. Both will be guests on IRO’s upcoming CD of Rolling Stones covers. On 12-string and infinite-sustain-guitar, Connor, who was sitting in with IRO before I even knew the other three members of Boomslang and who administers IRO’s website. Infrared Radiation Orchestra – RIGHTEOUS VIBES – MAXIMUM PSYCHEDELIA… and lastly, me. So Boomslang is our sister band… but Boomslang does not have its own website or newsletter yet. So I will promote them here until they do.

This is planned as a triple-celebration show… 1. Heidi’s birthday 2. Opening the show, the first live appearance of THE EUGENES. The Eugenes is Paul Nolan’s band. Paul was IRO’s first drummer. He has continued his partnership with the band as the producer / engineer / mixer of all of our recordings (except one). Joining Paul in the Eugenes are Genevieve Dougherty (who played violin on IRO’s last album), Megan Deming, Dan Lovell and IRO’s rhythm section, Jon & Joe. They will be playing a short set of Paul’s original songs. 3. It’s June 27th, so IRO will be closing our set with a medley of “27 CLUB” songs… Hendrix, Pigpen-era Grateful Dead, The Doors, Brian Jones-era Stones and one new song by a largely unheralded member of the club… and look for some very notable guests on this, especially if you were a fan of The American Monster Band !!!!!!!!!! And along with all of this, both IRO and Boomslang are hard at work on new recording projects. Look for them in the fall. Kree-gah! —Kim
